Generative Bionics, Niulinx, Algorithmiq, Camgraphic, Allsides, and Smartness: these are the six startups indicated as symbols of the new Italian artificial intelligence ecosystem under Law 132/2025 on AI. This mix spans from robotics and autonomous driving to quantum computing and hospitality, demonstrating how the concept of “Italian AI” is now transversal and not confined to a single sector.
Many of these entities are part of the CDP Venture Capital portfolio, which has already allocated approximately €300 million across 150 startups active in artificial intelligence. And it doesn’t end there: another billion euros is arriving to strengthen public support for the sector, signaling that the State has chosen to bet heavily on this field as a lever for industrial competitiveness.
The market context confirms the direction: in the first half of 2026, Italian AI companies attracted $204 million in investments, bringing the total value of the AI ecosystem to $8.2 billion, nearly tripling since 2022. This growth reflects not only enthusiasm but also growing confidence from institutional and international investors.
What makes this selection of six startups interesting is not just the capital received, but the variety of problems they tackle: from generative bionics to applied quantum systems, down to hospitality solutions. These are cases that deserve to be told individually because they show how Italian AI is not following a single trend but is building specific niches of excellence, often starting from unique academic and applied research skills.
