AI as a Dynamic Coaching Layer in Service-Based Businesses

This article was developed as part of the EYE4AI Project, to gather real-world insights on AI implementation. Conducted by F6S under Work Package 3, this interview provides young entrepreneurs with a look into how AI is being used to support daily business tasks and long-term growth.

How can an entrepreneur offer personalized support to a large number of clients without a massive team? Dean Savery, founder of runq, looked to AI to solve the scalability challenges inherent in the coaching and fitness industry.

The Core Concept: Dynamic Adaptability Rather than providing static plans, the business uses AI to make expert guidance more flexible and responsive to a user’s real life. By acting as a decision-support layer, the system helps interpret user information and suggests adjustments in real-time. This shifts the business from a “one-size-fits-all” model to a dynamic experience that scales efficiently.

Key Takeaways for Entrepreneurs:

  • Beyond Content Generation: AI’s real value is its ability to act as a support layer, helping to maintain a consistent experience for many users at once.
  • Systems Over Models: Success depends more on the surrounding system (data structures and validation rules) than on the specific AI model chosen.
  • Reliability is Key: Moving from a prototype to a production-ready system takes time. Focus on making the AI output dependable for real-world use.
